Shaun Rules - No Sheep Here

Handing my zombie-lovin' badge in at the door... Well not actual zombie-lovin', I mean ewwww! bits!

I bought Zombieland, I put Zombieland into the DVD player, I cringed through about 15 minutes of gut-eating, and then I removed Zombieland from the DVD player.

I do not deserve to be a zombie fan.*

*Side Note: The American 'Shaun of the Dead' my ass. **
**This is just my personal opinion.***
***But I am always right.

If there is no picture to the left (or above, or at all) then not only my computer but the whole interweb is pants - or my laptop has paid my pc off so that I'll do some writing.

There is no picture. I would advise running, now. Far away. The interwebs watched Zombieland for you, and are now after your BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS!

I see no picture either.

I bet they were talking while you were putting the DVD back in the case.

*whispers* Run run while there is still time!

do not feel bad. I am a horror writer who doesn't like 'scary' movies at all. I find them too gratuitous and self indulgent to be enjoyable.

I haven't seen Zombieland. Is this your not so suddle way of telling me to not bother or view at your own risk?

Jaym - gulp!

Shadow - eek!

Andrea - on your own stomach contents be it.

Jamie - Feeling slightly better now. Thanks. :D

Goodness. Hope you're OK, Cate. Have a cup of tea. That should help. ;)

Cate Gardner said...

Simon, I believe I require something stronger than tea. :D

Shaun of the Dead is a special movie. Zombieland...meh. So I'm with you, turning in my badge.

Hmm. I'd try to give it more than 15 minutes. Actually, the most violent stuff is in the beginning, and after that it becomes less about the zombies and more about the survivors. I liked it!

Wait, gut chewing? I might watch this then.

Zombieland is hilarious, but Shaun of the dead is better. I agree with you there. :D

Another absinthe slammer, Ms Gardner? ;)

I don't know, Cate. As an exploration of self-imposed loneliness, I think Zombieland works pretty well. You have to get a bit further for that to click in, though. Shaun was a much more simple and direct story of an abject slacker that needed the total collapse of the world to do anything about their life.
Totally different movies with no good reason to compare.
Once again, my own opinion as well.

Aaron, phew! I thought my humour bone had snapped.

Robert, I had to switch it off, my mother was turning several shades of green. It is unfair of me though to call it 'pants' when I only gave it 15 mins. But then again, they lost me in those 15 mins.

Natalie, you'd love it. :D Me, I get queasy.

Hinny, I think I expected too much from it.

Anton, my problem is, I'm looking no deeper than zombie comedy. Your explanation is beautiful. I must devour your mind... Perhaps 15 minutes was too much for me. Gulp!

Barry Napier said...

Yeah, that first 15 minutes is the only rough stuff. The rest is actually quite good. I suggest trying again, but skip that beginning scene.

Too bad Zombieland didn't work out for you. For me and my DVD player, my accursed DVD player, I usually have to remove the discs because the jalopy keeps skipping the disc. I end up having to watch movies on my old Playstation 2.

Watched Extract over the weekend that way. Didn't care for it.

Tyhitia Green said...

I haven't seen it yet but I plan to. :-D

I think I might like it. Not sure until I see it though.

Katey said...

I really want to see it-- but comparing it to Shaun of the Dead seems a bit ridiculous from the ads I've seen. What WERE they thinking? No one beats Shaun!

John Pender said...

Definitely on my watch list.

Cate Gardner said...

Barry, you're tempting me. :D

Gef, I haven't heard of 'Extract'.

Tythia, I hope you like it.

Katey, I think they should have had Anton come up with their tag line instead - I love his mini synopsis of both movies.

John, I hope you enjoy it.

Cate, what else am I going to use that bachelor's in English lit for? One of the best investments 30,000 bucks can buy.
