Cracking Competition

I hope your pencils are sharpened...

Shroud Publishing are running a flash fiction contest, and the deadline is this Friday. Get writing...

Here's some details:

SHROUD MAGAZINE "NEWS OF THE WEIRD" FLASH FICTION CONTEST!

For issue #7. Simply write 500 words or less on the below linked strange news story. It must fit our genre categories (horror, noir, dark fiction, fantasy or bizarro), it must be original and not a reprint, and must arrive by Friday June 12th.

1st Place: Paid publication in Issue #7 (nationally distributed), and a pitch session for longer works for 2010!

5 runners up will be published as well. No entry fee (obviously), let's see your work! send them to editor@shroudmagazine.com with a subject line of "flash fiction contest #7".

NH thief has great gall: Humpty Dumpty get-up gone

The chance at a pitch session will, I am sure, tempt a few of you. Good luck.

I think my brain has signed off for the week. Whenever I suggest that I write something, it blasts images of the Tra la la video at me.

I just submitted my story to it. I hope it is scary enough. It is certainly horrifying, but I don't know if it is scary.

good luck with your story.

Sounds great fun, and the office is quiet today...

Dang. Wish I had the time to enter that one. Ah well. Good luck to all.

Good luck, everyone.

I'm probably too comic and not enough horror, but that's still pretty blinking difficult to resist.

What harm can it do to enter?

Just finished up mine...my first time writing something "on demand" like this. Hope I succeeded.

Best of luck everyone!

Damn!

This is what I get for having a day or two away from the writing world.

Lets see, I have a matter of hours to come up with something...what's the news story about? Humpty bloody Dumpty - this should be interesting.

Okay - I've rattled something off and sent it in - hopefully it'll be there in time with the time difference and everything.

With little thought and no revision, it will probably be one of many along the premise I chose and probably quite lame, but it's done and sent.

And once the dust settles, I'll be happy to throw mine open to public scrutiny as well - god help us all.

Just subbed mine. It's pretty scary. My wife read it. She's making me sleep on the couch tonight.

Good luck Adam, BT and Jeremy... At least one of us has to get in, surely. I wonder if Tim's bribable. :)
