The Man who Climbed out of a Suitcase - Part One

My story The Man who Climbed out of a Suitcase is up at Flash Scribe. There seems to be a problem with the site (I've noticed this before with Flash Scribe) and if you use Internet Explorer the story may not load--at least it doesn't for me either at home or work and I use different versions of IE. It does work if you have Firefox though.

I'd love it if you have the time to read it (it's very, very short) and comment on the site. And, hopefully they will have the problem fixed shortly.

Dang, read it and didn't post on their site. Quite a twisted traveler story though.

It wasn't an order. :) Thanks again for reading it, Jamie.

Oh, I loved it! I think this may be my favorite of your stories so far, or maybe I just needed to read a funny, strange little story today. :)

(Glad I use Firefox on my laptop.)

Funny isn't it? When sites don't work properly, everyone blames MS, but now someone has created a site which leans toward Firefox and other non-MS browsers, every one still blames MS.

Unfortunately, Cate, I'm unable to read it.

Oh my, imagine if he'd come out in one of those factories that makes "real" dolls!

Thanks, Brenda.

BT, oh I wasn't blaming MS or IE. IE is actually my browser of choice; I'm more concerned that the site doesn't seem to be solving its IE problems as I have another 'The Man Who' story due for publication, and well, it's hard enough to find readers when you're a no one. :)

Natalie, now that would have been a much better and far creepier story. :)

Damn it, I can't get into it.

I'll head over and give it a read!

Cate Gardner said...

Thanks for trying, Danielle.

Thanks, Bobbie.

Placed my comment there the night you posted this, Cate (Clever premise . . . begs for more!)

I think my comment is in mod limbo (with I suspect others) and they're asleep at the switch over there.

Thank you for reading it Brendan, and for leaving a comment.

I think they have a problem with their comments as well stories not loading if you use IE. I've left comments that haven't appeared and comments that have - they're seems no rational to it.

Not that any of this matters, but it's actually quite easy within IE to see exactly what the problem is.

When you go to the site in IE and the page doesn't load, a small exclamation point shows up in the grey bar in the lower left-hand corner of the browser with the error message "Done, but with errors on page."

Double-clicking on that message reveals there is a variable defined as "jQuery" that is undefined somewhere in their code. FireFox is apparently more forgiving to this error than IE.

Hard to believe they'd allow their site to continue to be inaccessible to more than half the Internet, for a problem that is no doubt easily corrected.

But I bet there's a story in here somewhere . . .(:?)
