£800,000 Book Deal

Woo-Hoo, how amazing is that - an £800k five book deal for a 42 year old debut novelist. A five book, six figure deal. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it even though it's not ME!!!

Matt Hilton, a policeman, landed the deal with Hodder & Stoughton. His first novel, Dead Men's Dust, will be published in June 2009.

It gives a girl hope. It encourages a girl not to give up. And if you've googled yourself Matt (come on we all do it) then CONGRATULATIONS!

Meanwhile back at the ranch: I am going to spend this weekend getting The Poisoned Apple ready to go out into the world. I also have the beginnings of an idea for my next novel. A futuristic, dark sci-fi thriller set in Liverpool. WHAT??? I write horror and dark fantasy. I tell you, I write one story about a robot and the next thing you know they're popping up in half the stories I write.

Yeah, it's about 1.5 million in USD. I mean, WOW!!! I wouldn't even dare to dream of such an amount.

A five-book deal--that's incredible!

I didn't even know five book deals existed. I'd be happy with a one book deal.
