Purple Stain - 60 Word Fiction

Rachel dropped blackcurrant juice on the rug. Aunt Celia’s smile didn’t falter, as hands smoothed down apron, became grin as stain spread. Eric stomped on a chocolate bar and crushed it into the floorboards.

“Children will be children,” Aunt Celia whistled.

In the kitchen, fingers hovered over a carving knife as something smashed. Smile twitched as she popped a valium.

Stuffed Cushions - 60 Word Fiction

Plump cushions swelled on Uncle Joe’s chair, and tempted Alice. Her uncle was in the garden fussing with weeds.

She giggled, and landed in the centre of the cushions with a bump.

An uh-oh trembled as she heard a zip unzip, and a gulp followed as a cushion swallowed her whole. The stuffed cushion burped and hoped Joe wouldn’t hear.

Urban Tale - 60 Word Fiction

Glass crunched underfoot and set curtains twitching. Surburban neighbours from hell. Curious eyes, pricked ears, no sound unnoticed with the exception of her scream. Beauty, trapped in semi-detached.

Azalea at the window. Blossomed princess left waiting.

He'd never get by the dogs or the Davies', or the CCTV. No cry of let down your hair; for he was classed as wolf, not prince in this world.

Burst Bubble - 60 Word Fiction

BURST BUBBLE

With frown painted in place of smile, and tear smearing make-up, Bubble sways along the canal bank with balloons trailing between his legs like a tail. Stone skims the water, followed by another which hits and bursts balloon. The might of the pop deafens, drowns out the assailant's mocking.

Jack D's hot fire bolsters spirit; inspires Bubble to give the kid a two finger salute.
