WIP Wednesday - Guy with Freckles

The ego may have deflated a little since last Wednesday - it had to happen - and the writing may have been slow going (lazy writer syndrome with added excuses) but I still have positive vibes about Grim Glass Vein. So positive, I'm concerned that when I eventually sub it and the no's start coming in, I'm going to hit that beast named despair. Or rather, that beast named despair is going to hit me.

Draft Two currently lingers at 12,161 words and I hope to get another couple hundred words in before I switch off today. At the moment, the note I scrawled onto a post-it keeps distracting me. It reads: Who is the guy with the freckles?

He didn't exist until today and yet I can see him standing up and following Sydney into the school and goodness knows what happens next...

One of the boys, freckles stretching across his nose in a wide band, looked up. "Hey," he started. A girl nudged him in the ribs, and her leg outstretched in an attempt to trip Sydney up. She weaved her way between them and entered the school.

Unfortunately, everytime I read the freckle line I get an image of Adam Ant.

I love boys with freckles! I'm intrigued!

I wish I could say, "Tame that beast named Despair" but we both know it wouldn't do any good. We put our souls into our work, and we reap the repercussions of it. The highs are tremendously high and the lows are crushing. But you have a great group who will bully you back into happiness, if needs be. :)

I am glad I am not the only one with writer's laziness issues today.

Mercedes, all true (freckles and friends).

Jamie, we are bad people.

Man, I love when they just show up like that. Freckles are awesome, too, by the way.

Too bad about the ego deflation-- it's such a rare and inspiring thing to get that little high. I wish I knew how to bottle it for later.

Oh yeah, I've gone way past writer's laze. I'm not even sure I can be called a writer at the moment.

I want to know what happens with freckly.

It's not laziness, it's rejuvenation! ; )

Blah - it's not laziness at all, you're still moving forward - pace matters not unless your house payment/rent is dependant on you finishing tomorrow.

Keep up the good work.

Adam Ant - I heard the other day his fall from stardom was quite hard. Still remember dancing to Ant Music back in the day - nice memories - thanks.

I'm feeling that lazy writer thing this week, for some reason. :-/ I'm getting over it though. :-)

Katey, it's tempting to ignore him but I've a feeling he's the element that's been missing.

Antony, I'd determined to be productive today (wait for the excuses later on twitter).

Aaron, trying to ignore You Tube.

Natalie, now I have a beautiful new excuse. ;)

Thanks, BT

Tyhitia, I sometimes think we're a bunch of procrastinators.

I used to think Adam Ant was so hot.

I ADORE Adam Ant. He belongs in one of your books.

He was rather beautiful.

You could name the boy Adam, and when it's published and we read it, we'll all laugh 'cause we're in on the joke. And we'll feel cool.
