Zombieville

Twelve days into writing my story for the Permuted Press The World is Dead anthology - that's right, twelve days! - and I'm done. Or at least the first draft is at 4,603 words. Phew! Please don't calculate how many words a day that works out at because the result will not be pretty.

I've been kicking myself for taking so long to write a short story. Or rather I was kicking myself until I realised - some stories need a little more time than others. This was one of those. And I'm sure there are things I have included in my little zombie world that wouldn't be there if I'd finished the story eight days ago. And I like those things.

At the moment I'm going for the title: 'Chasing Alice out of Wonderland'*, but may change it to 'Where the Broken Toys Play', or then again - as submissions don't start until August 1st - it may be something different entirely. I reserve the right to change my mind up until I press 'send'.

*Oh and it has nothing to do with the Alice or the Wonderland - my Alice is a Wormald and my Wonderland is Nundead County and though it is far from Wonderful, I am hoping it is almost as strange.

Best of luck with it! Mine currently stands at 805 words. I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need to start over, but we'll see how that goes.

I am filled with envy, for your having finished a story and also for your excellent titles. Both titles are great!

Good luck!
I love the idea of the anthology, but more or less suck at zombie stories. Ah well!

Good luck. Some stories do take a little longer, and as well they should.

Me and you both.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we all make it in.

And Natalie - Having read 3 of your stories so far I very much doubt any zombie story you write would suck. Think about it - zombies in Hong Kong!

Good luck with your submission...I love your titles..."Chasing Alice out of Wonderland"...love it! If your story does't fit this title, you have to write a story that does!

I take it you've never seen "Bio Zombie" ; )

It did zombies as only HK can!

Thanks, Brenda.

Ah, Natalie - no I haven't...

I really need to get on that. New projects have taken a bit of a backseat; I've been writing backstories for some of my RPG characters, and a student director is interested in making one of my short stories into a film, so I had to retool an older draft a bit.

I think I need to buy a fairy or some sort of magical creature to pinch me whenever I fall behind on projects I really want to work on. But, then I'd always be black and blue.
