Iridescent colours cavort in the Cynic's garden,
gossamer wings beating purple and orange
above the stalks of abandoned summer.
Free in the air above sodden ground they tease;
as heavy boots slip in mud,
dislodging the last remaining rose petals.
How brief their summer?
A riotous fortnight
before eternal sleep in glass case.
But first, to the catcher's net.

Burning Photographs - A Poem
He posed
Enjoyed how the camera captured his image
Eternity in a single frame
His eyes would be forever known
Forever Seen
He died on a cold Friday in December
His face, and hers caught in a wooden frame beside their bed
By January she had burned his image in a mock funeral pyre.
