Is it smelly in here, or is it me?

First post of the year and I must say, 2011 is looking mighty pretty.

So far I've subbed four stories all to must-get-into publications that I intend to stalk until they or I die. Gosh, does that sound threatening? Well I believe I claimed 2011 would be the year I became a bad, bad girl. See, I keep my resolutions.

Three of the stories were waiting for markets to open today, and the fourth is a new story that I finished editing today... 'If Monsters Lurk; if.' Wish it luck, its path could be bumpy and long. Because, quite frankly, if it's accepted by the market I've just sent it to I'll eat your chocolate smothered hat. And that would be bad, because (whispers) we're giving up the evil bean in 2011.

In the spirit of pushing myself, I'm going to put a widget (that almost sounds naughty - just me) in my sidebar and keep a running tally of stories written, word count etc because last year I was lazy. Unless you count tweeting as productive. I don't. I did a quick tally last night and discovered I wrote and submitted about 14 new stories last year. Considering I wrote 60 stories in 2008 - which I discovered when I re-read this post - 2010 me stunk.

Or rather, 2010 tweeting me stunk.

Threaten away! Those markets are going to be glad to see your stories, I can tell!

Wishing you lots of success there but... hang on. You're giving up chocolate?!

What have you done with the real Cate Gardner? Tell us where you've hidden her!! ;-)

Kate, I'm sure they'll be overjoyed.

She'll be allowed to return when she's skinny-ish, Simon. This could take some time.

Give up chocolate? That's madness. Isn't there some sort of multi-grain bread you could give up?

Cool widget idea -- might have to nab it.

Hats come from beans?

Okay...seriously...good luck with all of it in 2011, Cate. I believe in 2011. I really do. ;)

Actually bread is another of my downfalls, Natalie. I do love a tuna sandwich.

Please do, Milo. I love stalking other peoples writing stats.

Me too, Aaron. I wonder how long it'll be before it pales?

Twitter is such a help and a bane! I love it. I love the connection. I'm thrilled that it helped me find an agent. I love the contests and things that I find on it.

But, yeah, there's that "time suck" thing. I'm finding myself really struggling with time organization. Do you have any ideas, Cate? Throw 'em my way!

But good luck, and I shall enjoy watching your progress and being inspire dto make some more of my own <3

If I find a solution Mercedes, I'll let you know.

I think there were two of me back then, Katey.
