Pulling Tongues at the Dark

I am annoyed with myself - note: this is nothing new.

Waking up from a most-hideous dream, I jotted down the main plot points of said dream in my notebook and went back to sleep. It was five-thirty in the morning, it was dark, I am obviously lazy.

Monday thru Friday I get up at five-thirty. I should have got up at that time today. If I had, I'd now be sitting here with a complete first draft rather than a notebook full of illegible scrawl. Luckily, my brain remembers most of it. My brain is awesome. In the light of day, story not necessarily so.

Thank god you remember it, though! The number of times I've a) had a great story idea, b) a sudden major insight into a WIP while drifting off to sleep, only to forget it next morning... and yes, there've been some spectacular dreams I've rapidly forgotten. Although in one case, this was because I was too terrified to write it down.

Wow...your dreams give you complete plots? Mine only offer donuts, beer, and those queer "falling" nightmares.

Simon, I only remember it because I scribbled it down and thus gave it life in this world. Note to self: careful what you give life too.

Aaron, of course. Surely you didn't think I'd have nonsensical dreams.

Very cool. Last night, I deamed of an old western town offering human sacrifices to a dragon -- then the crew of Firefly showed up. Crap. I refuse to write fan fiction!

Trust me, you're dream was way cooler than mine. Need to figure out how I can put Nathan Fillion into my subconscious and weave a little fan fiction tonight.

I never trust stories based on dreams. They're always missing something (like, in my case, a coherent plot). Hopefully you'll be able to pull it into shape, though.

I'm labelling this one bizarro. :D

5:30!? In the morning?

Glad you could remember the plot. I sure wish my dreams were that good.

I liked your idea of buying a dictaphone on twitter. I could use one of those too... but then, I'm not sure my mid-night ramblings would be more intelligent than my scribbles...

Anthony, one never said it was good. :D

I'm going to pick one up this week. Will let you know how it works out. Possibly, I'll just sing to it.

Sigh. That happened to me, except that I'd only dreamed that I wrote down the plot...

At least you wrote it down! I heard that some people sleep with a notebook under their pillow : )
