WIP Wednesday - Dead End

I've left Horrifiques at the worst possible place - the end of a chapter - and won't be returning to it until tomorrow because the wondrous 'net has captured me. I've guaranteed myself a good long stare at an empty white page. Current word count is 16,369 (36%), and we stand at this point in time...

The woman with the blue-grey hair was all smiles, charm, and of course she could have the things back. Translation: teenagers weren't to be trusted. And through it all, Florence Hart was almost normal. Perhaps she had broken the spell.

Things are moving along now at a brisk pace - possibly too brisk a pace as my poor Sydney hasn't had time for a cup of tea or a pee. Must fix that, must fix many things, must not think about fixing things for at least six weeks.

Jealous of your word count. Who cares if things are going a little too quickly now. That is what 2nd and 3rd (4th, 5th,. . .) drafts are for. :)

Jamie, too true.

Great stuff, Cate. Go with the brisk pace, add the tea and pee later!

Brisk is always good.

I recently finished reading The Sour Aftertaste of Olive Lemon. I truly enjoyed it . . . well, you know what I mean. :-)

That reminds me, ever notice how infrequently people pee in fiction? I found it refreshing how often the characters in "Urban Gothic" took a whiz.

I'm training myself to end sessions on the novel just as my interest is near its peak - makes me want to come back.

Well done on your progress, Cate. Onwards.

I've decided to boycott chapters altogether

Onward! Let her hold it while the action rages!

Seems like things are moving along nicely. Keep going! :-)

Excellent progress.

As for peeing, funny you should mention that. My lad got semi-caught behind a bush in the last chapter of my WIP. I was thinking the same thing at the time - 'Nearly a full day gone and no toilet break...time to fix that due to the fear and tension build up making him need to go' and so he went, and a little later a casual comment revealed he was being watched - I thought it was funny...maybe you had to be there.

Keep up the excellent work, Cate!

Alan, but her bladder's bursting. :)

Aaron, how much?

Rebecca, thank you for reading her little tale.

Natalie, our characters should pee more, or in my case, at least take time to breathe.

Steven, I need to do that. I do too much white page staring.

Jeremy - woot!

KC, :) from me :/) from Sydney.

BT, Anthony, thanks guys.

Oh how I love your singular style! <3 You're hammering it out, man. It feels like it gets away too fast sometimes, yeah, but you can always blame it on divine inspiration.

Cate Gardner said...

Katey, nothing divine about the inspiration here, in fact I think it's more hellish.

Maybe she could just do the Gotta Go dance. You know, to increase dramatic tension. :)
